Samuel Gawith, son-in-law of snuff manufacturer Thomas Harrison, inherited Harrison’s tobacco equipment in Kendal, England, in 1792. The company has since crafted premium tobacco, with one of Samuel’s sons continuing the brand and the other forming Gawith, Hoggarth & Co. Both brands, though separate, share the same Lake District facility and maintain traditional production techniques. Samuel Gawith’s popular 1792 flake features Dark-Fired Tanzanian leaf and Virginias, steamed, pressed, wrapped, and baked with tonquin for a bold, full-bodied experience.
