A Return to Craftsmanship
Brad Pohlmann
Brad Pohlmann’s journey in pipemaking began in 1976 after a “pipe pilgrimage” to Britain. Hitchhiking across the U.S. for training, he landed at The Briar Workshop, honing his craft alongside industry greats. After five years, he shifted to a Tool & Die apprenticeship, later spending 16 years in the computer industry before returning to pipemaking full-time in 2003.
Now based in Oregon, Brad’s engineering expertise ensures precision in every pipe. Using vulcanite rods, Delrin tenons, and accents like exotic woods and bamboo, his pieces feature exquisite smooth finishes or expert sandblasting, each crafted to highlight the briar’s natural beauty.
