Alex Florov
Born in Moscow and now based in Chicago, Alexey Florov’s journey from antique restoration to industrial design led him to pipemaking in 2004. His background in exotic materials and meticulous craftsmanship quickly established him as one of the world’s top pipe artisans.
Each Florov pipe starts with a sketch, inspired by his constant exploration of form and detail. Using a milling machine for precision drilling, he uniquely carves most of his pipes with razor-sharp hand chisels, achieving intricate edges and concaves unattainable with sanding. His hand-cut vulcanite stems and carefully chosen accents—bamboo, boxwood, horn, and more—reflect his dedication to artistry. The result: beautifully detailed pipes that blend engineering with timeless elegance.
